Scientific and Educational Seminar on “Clean Environment and Biodiversity” Held

On 16 September 2026, at the initiative of the Science Department and organised by the Department of Natural Sciences, a scientific and educational seminar entitled “Clean Environment and Biodiversity: Protecting Nature Is Our Shared Responsibility” was held within the framework of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on Land.

The keynote speaker was Bagila Zhoshibekova, PhD, Director of the Science Department at Shymkent University and Acting Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Sciences.

The seminar addressed key issues related to the conservation of terrestrial ecosystems, environmental protection, biodiversity preservation, and the development of environmental awareness. Particular attention was devoted to the importance of scientific research in environmental conservation and the role of higher education institutions in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

Participants exchanged views on the current state of the environment, effective approaches to addressing environmental challenges, and the sustainable use of natural resources. Students also had the opportunity to raise questions and receive evidence-based responses.

The seminar contributed to strengthening environmental responsibility, promoting a scientific worldview, and supporting new initiatives aimed at protecting nature.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the participants emphasised that the conservation of natural ecosystems and biodiversity is a shared responsibility of every citizen.
